Happy Monday Mindset!
Two weekends ago, I spent three days in Miami with a group of guys and our wives that I have known since 2004.
On paper, just a trip.
In reality, a leadership lesson hiding in plain sight.
For nearly a decade, we worked side by side in a career development company.
Then life happened.
Careers shifted. The company dissolved. Distance crept in.
Sound familiar?
Then in 2022, we reunited at my friend Chris’s wedding in Puerto Rico. I looked around and realized something uncomfortable.
We had drifted.
Not intentionally. Just slowly.
That is when I borrowed a play from my mom’s playbook. For 30+ years, she has taken an annual weekend trip with her college friends.
No excuses. Calendar locked.
So we did the same.
First, Park City. Then, Atlanta. Now, Miami.
Here is the lesson:
What gets scheduled gets done.
What does not gets lost.
Relationships are not maintenance-free.
They require intention, structure, and leadership.
Yes, it is inconvenient.
Yes, there are logistics, kids, and competing priorities.
But the return?
Deeper connection. Sharper perspective. Stronger friendship.
And that spills into how you lead, how you think, and how you show up.
So here is the moral of the story:
Prioritize what matters most.
People and relationships.
Because if you do not, life will quietly pass you by.
Make it a GREAT week!
