Hey Leader 🙌
A couple of weeks ago, I started a new 12-week challenge.
Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.
At 42 years old, as a CEO with years of leadership experience, business success, and personal growth under my belt, I walked into a room where none of that mattered.
I was back at square one.
White belt. Beginner.
And honestly, that is exactly why I did it.
You see, true growth begins when the ego dies.
One of the greatest dangers in leadership is that with success, you stop being coachable.
You stop asking questions.
You stop putting yourself in environments where you can struggle, fail, and grow.
That is where stagnation begins.
So I engineered proximity to someone who could stretch me.
My Jiu Jitsu mentor, James.
James is a brown belt and a quiet assassin.
Humble. Calm. Technical.
The kind of leader who does not need to announce his capability because his skill speaks for itself.
In our first few sessions together, he humbled me unintentionally several times.
Fast.
It was a powerful reminder that competence in one arena does not equal mastery in another.
Great leaders stay curious, coachable, and humble enough to become beginners again.
Because leadership is not about protecting your ego.
Make it a GREAT week!

The 5 Immutable Rules of Leadership
- Take Extreme Ownership: Everything is your responsibility, even when it’s not your fault.
- Put Your Oxygen Mask On First: Lead yourself before leading others.
- Wield Influence Through Moral Authority: People follow who you are, not what you say.
- It’s Not About You, Never Was, Never Will Be: Elevate others, build legacy.
- Turn Adversity Into Advantage: Pain is your power, use it.
