Hey Leader 🙌
Last weekend, I was in downtown Detroit celebrating Barrett and my “baby” cousin Megan’s wedding.
It was surreal.
Beautiful venue. Classic vintage downtown Detroit backdrop. Family together.
And some country music.
Now, full disclosure: country isn’t exactly my cup of tea.
But when the old classics come on, I’m in.
Especially Dolly Parton.
Her recent passing made the moment hit differently for me.
Dolly was more than a music and movie icon.
She had a rare ability to connect with people across generations, backgrounds, and beliefs.
In a world that constantly tries to divide us, Dolly reminded us of something leadership desperately needs:
Great leaders bring people together.
They don’t ignore differences.
They find common ground.
They create alignment around the important few vs. the trivial many.
And they remind people that what connects us is often bigger than what separates us.
That’s your leadership challenge this week.
Look at your team.
Where is there unnecessary division?
Where are people operating from different agendas?
Where can YOU create common ground?
Start one conversation this week designed not to prove a point, but to create alignment.
Because leadership isn’t about getting everyone to think the same.
It’s about getting people moving in the same direction.
Make it a GREAT week!

The 5 Immutable Rules of Leadership
- Take Extreme Ownership: Everything is your responsibility, even when it’s not your fault.
- Put Your Oxygen Mask On First: Lead yourself before leading others.
- Wield Influence Through Moral Authority: People follow who you are, not what you say.
- It’s Not About You, Never Was, Never Will Be: Elevate others, build legacy.
- Turn Adversity Into Advantage: Pain is your power; use it.
