Happy Monday Mindset!
A few weeks back, I shared that I took an annual friends’ trip to Atlanta for the weekend.
We only have 48+ hours together, so we do a good job aligning on the agenda about a month before arriving.
This way we can maximize the time spent.
On the first day, I added a little something extra to the itinerary.
I woke up early, squeezed in a quick body weight workout, and headed out to revisit the trailer home where I spent a few years of my childhood.
For my first decade, I grew up in a southern Atlanta suburb, deep in the heart of the South, before moving to Michigan when my parents split at age 10.
So I decided to take advantage of the destination and take a walk down memory lane, being it was about 30 minutes from our Air B&B.
My wife, Tatiana, and my buddy Chris tagged along for the ride.
As we rolled into the trailer park, Chris suddenly blurted out,
“Oh shoot, I forgot my gun!”
Thankfully, he was kidding —no real danger in sight.
Still, the place looked just as weathered and worn as it did when I left it over 30 years ago.
Back then, I’ll admit, I used to feel ashamed of it.
But now?
I’m proud of where I started and how far I’ve climbed.
It was a surreal experience!
Here’s my takeaway:
Own your past—it doesn’t have to shape your future.
Take your adversity, endure it, and re-frame it to your advantage.
After all, it is!
Make it a GREAT week!
