Happy Monday Mindset!
A few weeks back, I reconnected with an old friend—Brian Buntz.
He was in SoCal for his son’s soccer tournament, and I got to spend the afternoon with him, his beautiful wife, and Tatiana. And man… it reminded me how one relationship can alter your entire trajectory.
Back in the day, Brian didn’t just look like your typical All-American guy—he was that guy. And then he’d open his mouth and speak flawless Spanish.
Not textbook Spanish—Guatemalan Spanish.
Because he’d lived there. Immersed himself. Served in the Peace Corps. Studied culture, not just language.
He was a big reason I ever started learning Portuguese—and the reason my boss agreed to let me move to Brazil due to this support.
Without him, that chapter of my life may never have happened, nor would I have met Tatiana.
Why does this matter for you?
Because experience + relationships = exponential growth.
We chase tactics, books, webinars—but it’s who you’re around and what you expose yourself to that changes everything.
Brian gave me proximity to a version of myself I hadn’t yet stepped into. He didn’t do it with hype. He did it by living it.
By doing so, he changed my life, and I am forever grateful. And I write these messages in hope that I can do the same for you in my small way.
So here’s your mindset message:
You don’t grow in isolation. You grow through immersion.
Proximity is power. Relationships are rocket fuel. And if you’re not being shaped by the people around you, it might be time to change your environment.
