Happy Monday, Mindset!
25 years ago, I walked into an 8 am class at Michigan State.
I was 18 years old.
No smartphones fed us breaking news.
So when my classmates and I walked out around Noon, we had no idea that in those 4 hours, the world had changed.
I returned to my dorm and saw everyone glued to the TV.
Disbelief.
Fear.
Pure uncertainty.
For a brief moment, we did not know who attacked us or what would happen next.
I remember thinking, “Could I be drafted to go to war?”
But what I remember most today is the incredible courage of the first responders, the innocent lives lost, and how Americans came together in the aftermath.
25 years later, that part deserves our attention.
Because adversity can divide us.
Or it can align us.
We cannot change what happened.
But we can decide what we do with the memory.
We can turn adversity into advantage by allowing tragedy to strengthen our gratitude, deepen our resolve, and remind us of the responsibility that comes with freedom.
That is the Phoenix Effect.
My challenge for you this week?
Unite.
Lead yourself.
Lead your family.
Lead your community.
Honor the past by becoming a stronger leader for the future.
Make it a GREAT week!
