Happy Monday and hope you had an incredible Thanksgiving! I cannot believe it’s December already which means our year is ending quickly and a New Year is on the horizon!
Aside from that, I just finished the book “Shut Up and Listen” by Tilman Fertitta and got a lot from the book so wanted to share.
Before I do, if you never heard of Tilman…he is a very blunt, self-made Billionaire from Houston, Texas. He owns the NBA’s Houston Rockets, the Golden Nugget (Casino & Resort), has a TV show called “Billionaire Buyer” on CNBC, Landry’s, Inc which is a holding company that that owns many restaurants that include Mastro’s Steakhouse, Morton’s Steakhouse, Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. and many more.
Needless to say, he knows a lot about leadership, business, and specifically the “hospitality business” which he emphatically proclaims that all his businesses fall under (which I also believe is our primary business here at Fit Body Boot Camp and something we will continue to instill in our team & clients).
Because he is so knowledgeable, it’s hard to lock onto 1 specific concept in the book; but one of the biggest ones that he teaches and being a fundamental reason for his success; is the ability to “CHANGE, CHANGE, CHANGE.”
While he emphatically agrees that human nature instinctively resists the process of change; but at our core we all desire it and is essential for success. Furthermore, the people and organizations who can implement change the quickest (especially in our fast paced and current day and age; are the winners in life).
In the book, he dives deep and cites many examples of consistently updating menus, restaurant designs, logos, switching out games, uniform & concept changes, etc. which has allowed him and his companies to stay ahead of the curve and achieve success!
So that is today’s message which is the concept of “embracing change” as in life, it’s the only constant. Additionally, this comes at a great timing where we are in the process of changing years, changing designs, adding teammates and evolving/creating/changing our Nutrition Coaching program (which is set to launch in 2020).
Lots of change!!!!
As such, we have 2 choices: 1) to resist change and hold on for dear life or 2) to embrace it, and using it as an opportunity to get better, learn and grow!
Certainly easier said than done, but call to action is to embrace it, and use it as an opportunity to get learn and grow!!
This is also why one of our updated core values is “Drive Change” so we can remind ourselves, team and clients the true power behind that mindsight!!Head up, onward, and let’s make the most of our last month of 2019, before we change into a New Year and a New You!!
