Decentralized Command. 150 150 Bryce Henson

Decentralized Command.

One of the most important but underutilized elements of leadership.

Meaning leaders create & support small teams of leaders who have the autonomy to make decisions to move the mission forward.

As even the best leaders can only truly invest their time and knowledge into a handful of people.

These people then lead their downline.

This is why its mission is critical to develop a team of leaders and not only followers.

As with a team of only followers, an organization cannot be truly transformational.

True execution happens when you decentralize command and empower others to lead.

Monday Mindset: 3 Nashville Takeaways..

Happy Monday!

Last week I returned from delivering a week-long training in Nashville Tennessee to nearly 300 attendees.🙌

The group was made up of owners, leaders, and coaches all wanting to get even better in the service of their clients, teammates, and community.⚡️

While the days were action-packed full of incredible teaching and takeaways. Here are a few that really resonated with me that will help you on your journey.👇

  • Proximity is power. When you gain more proximity to people doing well in life & with their fitness, it raises your productivity & fitness thermostat. Just as you tell your children, pick your friends wisely for the exact same reason. As when you put yourself in a room with other fit people, you will become the next fit person!
  • Growth Mindset. You are either growing or dying. That’s a tough truth but a law of nature. What we have at Fit Body is really a personal growth program packaged within a fitness & nutrition service offering. Choose growth and your life will prosper.
  • Knowledge is only potential power. While we learned, shared, and taught some amazing strategies to drive even better fitness results for our clients. My parting message was that the only true way to unlock this learning is taking action. While both are very important, action and implementation always trump knowledge collection. This is true for you with regard to your health and fitness. You know this inherently, but do you do? That’s the power of our fitness program which creates action and why hiring a coach is extremely productive.

I trust these takeaways will help you on your health and fitness journey! If so, please share it with someone in need!

Make it a great week!👊

My biggest leadership secret? 150 150 Bryce Henson

My biggest leadership secret?

The ability to lead yourself.

Sounds basic but it’s extremely true.

When you develop the ability to lead yourself by creating discipline in your life (eating well, exercising, being an early riser and overall highly dependable).

You will be able to accomplish many things from a productivity perspective as its first value point.

But much more than that, you will become a source of inspiration for others who then buy into your leadership.

Discipline is at the foundation of this which is a core value here at Fit Body..

So the more of the story and todays lesson?

If you develop the discipline and ability to lead yourself, you then can develop the ability to lead others.

But remember, it’s an internal game that starts with you and starts with discipline..

Monday Mindset: The true value of your fitness 1024 768 Bryce Henson

Monday Mindset: The true value of your fitness

Happy Monday! 🙌

I am very excited to be home after an action-packed trip to Nashville delivering the Fit Body Elite Training workshop for our owners and coaches in the brand. 🤗

I will share some good takeaways from the trip next week.

The best part of returning?

My wife Tatiana picked me up from LAX, with my 2 moms for the first time!

Donna whom you know as my birth mom and Cristina my Brazilian mom, who is the birth mom of Tatiana!

In fact, Saturday was the first time they had met after 12 years of Tatiana and I being together. 🥳

They both were extremely excited as you would imagine.

And to further prepare, Cristina has been taking some English lessons in anticipation of meeting Donna so that can communicate more directly. 💥

Or at least the very basics.

And I supposed their children will bridge the rest of the translation gap.

Morale of today’s story?

Your Health & Fitness is important. But not for fitness’s sake alone.

Rather, fitness gives you a baseline foundation to live a better quality of life.

To be with your family. ❤️

To travel the world and to spend time with your loved ones.

That’s what truly matters in life and the true value of fitness.

So yes, it’s important you value fitness.

But it’s most important to never forget the true gift it gives which is better quality time with your loved ones…

Make it a great week! 💪

Leadership is always the problem and always the solution. 150 150 Bryce Henson

Leadership is always the problem and always the solution.

In fact and in the words of Jocko Willink…

There are no bad teams.

Rather, just bad leaders.

That’s incredibly humbling, but also incredibly empowering.

As the greater you lead yourself, the greater you can lead others.

It starts with you.

And once you accept this very difficult reality that your current leadership is the lid on your life and our business, things become much easier.

But you must first accept the difficult fact of life that leadership is always the problem, and always the solution.

So invest in your leadership growth, and let’s get to solving.

Monday Mindset: You never know when you will need your fitness.. 150 150 Bryce Henson

Monday Mindset: You never know when you will need your fitness..

Happy Monday!

I’m traveling again, this time to Nashville delivering a week-long training to our owners and coaches throughout the Fit Body brand. 🤗

I return on Sunday so, in next Monday’s Mindset message, I will have some good take-aways for you so be ready!

For today, I’m still reflecting on last week. 🤔

If you remember, I took a trip to Sioux Falls to attend the Grand Opening of my dear friend and Franchise Business Coach CJ Werhkamp. CJ who was also a face of our recorded videos during COVID.

And 1 thing I left out last week was how the trip ended!

Turns out, I had a flight back to Orange County that was routed through Phoenix, AZ.

And the bustling metropolis of Sioux Falls doesn’t have many flights going out on a daily basis.. So when I found out my flight to Phoenix was going to be delayed, it looked like I was going to have to spend 6 hours in the Phoenix airport due to missing the connecting flight.

Bummer. 🙁

Although when I finally boarded the plane from Sioux Falls to Phoenix, I received an SMS notification that the Phoenix to Orange County flight was delayed. Although from the initial notification, it looked like I was still going to miss the flight by 30 minutes.

So for the first time in my traveling career, I began to hope that my connecting flight would be delayed..

When I arrived in Phoenix.. it turns out that’s exactly what happened! 😱

The only problem, my connecting flight to Orange County was in the other terminal and had only 3 minutes before the gates closed to make the distance of a 15-minute walk according to the attendant.

Now I didn’t check any baggage and only had flip flops on.

So upon exit, I went into a full court sprint mode for 5 full minutes. Yes, you know from camp, 5 minutes of 100% intensity is absolutely brutal!

When I arrived, the door has just locked by a 2 minutes. So I began to politely and urgently plead my case to the attendant to let please me on.

The attendant called the pilot on the radio and after a 15-second hesitation which seemed like an hour, she opened the gate and said “go now, hurry!” so off I went.

I made it and thank goodness! 🥳

And as it turns out, I found out later that the evening flight was canceled to Orange County. So if I didn’t make this flight, I would have been posted up in the airport for nearly 16 hours until the next day.

Moral of the story?

You never know when your fitness will come in handy.

So my message today is rather than getting fit… stay fit and your life will benefit.

You see, those burpees help after all! 😉

Especially next time you unexpectedly need to burst out in a full court 5 minutes sprint throughout an airport so you can spend more time with your family! ❤️

Make it a great week!

Communication is an ally of Leadership 150 150 Bryce Henson

Communication is an ally of Leadership

Communication is an ally of Leadership.

The better communication skills you develop, the better leader you become.

Why?

At its root, Leadership is about creating clarity.

Clarity for yourself, clarity for your team, clarity for your clients, clarity for your following.

So the more effective communicator you are, the more clarity everyone has and consequently the better leader you are.

Todays call to action?

Be a student of communication in its various forms (written, spoken, group, 1-1, etc) and your leadership will transform!

Monday Mindset: Some takeaways from my trip to Sioux Falls 1024 768 Bryce Henson

Monday Mindset: Some takeaways from my trip to Sioux Falls

Happy Monday!

I just got back to California after an incredible weekend celebrating my friend and Fit Body Franchise Business Coach CJ, his team & clients Sioux Falls Fit Body in South Dakota. ❤️

You may remember CJ and his team from all the virtual Fit Body workouts during COVID.

And it was my first time there and it was such a fun town!

Hundreds of people came out in the community for their Grand Opening block party event to kick off their 2nd location all to get a little better. 💥

They even had a dunk tank and raised a few thousand dollars for our charity partner the Special Olympics.

And yes, yours truly got dunked 5 times!

Fun times! 😉

In reflection of the amazing weekend, I wanted to provide some valuable takeaways that will help you on your fitness journey.

✅ Show me your friends and I’ll show you your future. As who you surround yourself with is who you become. This is why group accountability and friendships from positive & dedicated people at boot camp are so beneficial to your long term fitness success!

✅ Dream big, take bigger action. CJ and his team took a lot of time to prepare the event to make it special for the community. That’s the same with your fitness goals. I wish there was an easy button, but there’s not. So prepare by planning your week, scheduling at least 3 sessions in our booking app and plan your meals. When you dream big and take even bigger action towards your fitness goals, your quality of life will improve.

✅ Don’t forget to have some fun. Watching CJ lead, shine and make the experience fun is his personal mantra and is embedded deep in the fabric of his culture and community.

This is a critical part of your success and keeps you coming back for more!

Let’s make it a great week!

No. 6 Default Aggressive – Effective leaders default aggressive 150 150 Bryce Henson

No. 6 Default Aggressive – Effective leaders default aggressive

Simply put, effective leaders play to win. Thus, in order to win you must have a default aggressive.

To provide some other perspective and in sales, there’s a famous quote saying “Timid Salesmen have skinny kids”.

This is also true of leadership.

This in mind, there’s many times as a leader it’s in the best interest of your team and clients to take the softer approach. There is much truth is this. In fact, this is the challenge of leadership knowing when to decipher between the two.

But as a defaut, effective leaders thermostat is set as aggressive.

No. 5 Detach – Effective leaders can remove emotion by detaching 150 150 Bryce Henson

No. 5 Detach – Effective leaders can remove emotion by detaching

Just when you thought we were complete with Jocko’s 4 laws of combat and leadership, I am here to exceed expectations and provide the final 2 and a summary from the notepad.com

Now on to lesson Number 5!

In Leadership Strategy and Tactics: Field Manual, Jocko Willink compares two of his Platoon Commanders early in his career as a SEAL. One of them wanted complete ownership over planning. The other allowed his reports to do the planning but he would review it.

The leader that wanted complete ownership over planning couldn’t detach from his own plans. He couldn’t take a higher-level look at it. He would blame others when things went wrong: the plan was poorly executed or there were outside factors.

Because they did the planning, the reports felt ownership over it and were more motivated to execute it properly during a mission.

The leadership lesson?

Find a way to detach from your plan.

Step away from your drafts. Have someone else review your outlines. If you’re leading others, remember that their feeling of ownership is important.

You’ll always have that feeling because you have other people looking to you to lead. Find opportunities for them to reinforce their own feelings of ownership.
