Monday Mindset – Change: the only constant 150 150 Bryce Henson

Monday Mindset – Change: the only constant

Yesterday, I just shared the news of Tatiana and I transitioning out of ownership at our first location of Yorba Linda Fit Body effective today.

This is so we can focus more consolidated energy on overseeing our Mission Viejo Fit Body location with a consolidated local team focus. And so that I can also have more time to oversee the Fit Body brand as your CEO.

This is a win for everyone. 💯

Tatiana will still be on-site in Yorba Linda through the end of April to ensure a strong transition before she transitions more support to our MV team. As we are passing the ownership torch to 2 beautifully inspiring ladies in Coach Ari and Andria Lopez who will pour the clients, team, and location for years to come

Below is my Monday Mindset sendoff message to Yorba Linda this morning and know you will get value from the takeaway as well about embracing and driving change being the only constant in life.

PS Tatiana and I are excited to be able to spend more time with you beginning in May!

It was a cold, dark, and rainy morning on November 5, 2012. This is when we opened the doors of Yorba Linda Fit Body for the very first time.

I had just spent the last 2 years abroad on the little island of Florianopolis, Brazil where I met and lived with Tatiana and her family. 🏝

A few months earlier I had just returned to Orange County to lay the foundation for our little fitness/boot camp business that would eventually become Yorba Linda Fit Body.

Tatiana arrived on Halloween and just a few days prior to launch, as we sorted out her visa paperwork just in time for our Grand Opening (if you could even call it that).

We knew our country’s overall health and obesity problem was getting worse by the year which this passion was matched by the inspiration from our own physical transformations a few years prior.

So, we decided to invest our life savings in this little dream to help our community in Yorba Linda get healthy and fit. 💪

We opened that cold, dark, and rainy morning in November with four walls, some mats, and no equipment as we couldn’t afford it. The lighting was poor, and the location looked extremely different than the fully stocked facility we now call home.

We put every dollar we had into the lease and all the upfront costs that come with any business endeavor so didn’t have much financial breathing room to spend on “frills”.

I also asked my sister Emma who was living in LA at the time to join the full list of sessions to “make the sessions look fuller”.

My friends Leslie and Bo, who are still members, were there and we started the session by sharing our gratitude list.

Candidly, I was so scared to be running those first sessions.

Actually, “terrified” is the more accurate word. 😱

But at the same time, I was incredibly excited to be supporting people in their health and fitness journey, because fitness touched Tatiana and my life so deeply.

Fast forward, nearly a decade, and never would I have ever imagined the blessings that would occur from that start. The friendships, deep relationships, and the incredible community we would bring together.

What a spectacular ride and I can say honestly and humbly, Tatiana and I couldn’t have asked for nothing more. In fact, I’m in tears as I write this..

This in mind, life has its seasons and it’s now the season for these 2 new amazing, beautiful women in Andria and Ari to take over the mission of Inspiring Fitness & Changing Lives Every Day in our Yorba Linda community with their teams support, as it still continues and even stronger than ever!

Tatiana and I want to thank you deeply for your love, your support, and contribution to our little dream. In return, we hope we have provided you with immense value whether you have been with us for 9 years or days. ❤️

And rest assured, that the best is yet to come. As I am here with a reminder that change is the only constant in life which is today’s message.

Instead of running from it, we must embrace it as it’s the only thing constant in life! This concept is so important, especially in the transformation business, and why we have made “Embracing and Driving Change” a global Fit Body core value.

Rest assured, Tatiana and I are on-site to support for the next few weeks and will be excited to deliver our last training session on the mic on Saturday, April 30 as we transition out of ownership. And past that, we are excited to continue to hear of your ongoing success as you are in very good hands with Andria, Ari, and our team as we want to stay connected.

You will begin hearing from Coach Ari next week and will leave you with this quote. 👇

“The secret of change is to focus all of your energy not on fighting the old, but on building the new.” -Socrates

Love and incredible gratitude,

-Coach Bryce

Monday Mindset – The Hidden Cost.. 150 150 Bryce Henson

Monday Mindset – The Hidden Cost..

I read this recently and wanted to share as it’s oh-so-true as I know you will get value!

  • A Big Mac does NOT cost $3.99.  It costs your health. 🍔
  • Netflix does NOT cost $17.99. It costs your time. ⏱️
  • Social media does NOT cost $0. It costs your attention and focus. 📱

Remember.. ✅

There is ALWAYS a hidden cost to everything.

Be intentional and choose wisely.

Much love and respect,

Monday Mindset – The Battle Against Obesity 150 150 Bryce Henson

Monday Mindset – The Battle Against Obesity

Happy Mindset Monday!

While COVID continues and always will like any virus, it’s clear the cases and emotions are fading which will allow more data and facts to be brought to the forefront for us to review. ✅

And for as much as the media made COVID a giant focus over the last 2 years..

One thing that I find very interesting as a fitness professional, is that there was very little discussion about the root issue of the bigger concern from a health & fitness perspective.

Aside from the elderly, the obese were by far the most affected. 😥

In fact, I just read an article stating that 78% of hospital visits and severe reactions including death from COVID were sadly from people suffering from obesity. 💯

From my fitness professional perspective, I think that was a big, missed opportunity for the media not to put major attention on the root issue especially for all the fear that was spread.

As from a statistical perspective, more people died due to Obesity during the last 2 years, which was also at the root of most of the COVID issues so a compounded problem. 😳

So the fact remains that there is still a big health problem in our country at the root of this and other sicknesses as obesity compromises the immune systems of those affected. 💯

This is exactly why have created our world-famous Fit Body Transformation Challenges. As they focus on mindset, nutrition, coaching, community, results, and weight loss.

And since launching brand-wide in 2019, we have shed over 100,000 lbs. collectively as a brand. And 25,000 inches and 17,000 lbs. dropped alone specifically from our last Fall Challenge.

So, we are beyond excited for the momentum to continue as we begin our Spring Challenge this coming Monday, March 28!

If you didn’t see the story Yahoo News picked up earlier this year, give it a look that tells the bigger story.

If you need some mindset, nutrition, and fitness coaching with some community and fun competition, our Spring Challenge is for you.

Make it a great week!

Monday Mindset – Hitler & JFK 150 150 Bryce Henson

Monday Mindset – Hitler & JFK

Happy Monday!!

I received the below message recently from my business partner, and founder of Fit Body, Bedros Keuilian. And with all the craziness continuing in the world, it made me stop and think.

Since I got the value I wanted to share it with you in hopes it will do the same for you. 👇
I read a lot of stuff… stuff that many people would find weird or strange. 🤓

Recently I was reading about Hitler and how he got into power, stayed in power, and got support for the genocide of six million Jews from millions of his citizens.

You’d wonder how people would allow that to happen right❓

You’d wonder why no one in Germany tried to stop him, right?

It’s simple really and the answer is found in two quotes… one from Hitler and the other from John F Kennedy.

HITLER: “I use emotion for the many and reason for the few.”

Hitler learned early on that people are emotional and reactive. Only a few are reasonable or logical. So, he realized that if he could control a person’s emotions then he could predict their reaction.

One of the most effective ways to make people emotional is to incite FUD (fear, uncertainty, and doubt). ☑️

FUD is still used today on the masses to gain control and compliance – almost like mind control.

Want an example?

Just flick on the mainstream news and very easy to see this in real-time.

A lesson?

If you want to free yourself of this mind control then learn to control and manage your emotions. React less. Respond more. 💯

Emotional people REACT. Reasonable people RESPOND.

Those who tend to react put the power in the hands of others. Those who respond hold the power and control.

John F Kennedy said: “Conformity is the jailer of freedom and the enemy of growth”.

Emotionally charged people conform quickly and lose their freedoms and grow weaker.

To recap, the lesson here is this…

1. Take control of your emotions and you’ll become uncontrollable.
2, Respond and don’t react.
3. Fear, uncertainty, and doubt are the enemy of freedom and growth.

Here’s to an amazing week ahead team! 🙌
-Bedros
Much love and respect,

-Coach Bryce

Monday Mindset – Never Give In 150 150 Bryce Henson

Monday Mindset – Never Give In

Happy Mindset Monday!

As the conflict in Ukraine with Russia continues to develop on the world stage.. I couldn’t help but take a step back and look at some history on the continent.

I am a big fan of Winston Churchill who is typically remembered very fondly in the present day.

However, in his day…

He was considered outspoken, abrasive, not a “polished politician” by many of his peers and people in the media. It was only with success and time, have people’s opinions changed.

I have included one of this most famous speeches to the Harrow School on October 29, 1941, to inspire his people and the allies against Hitler and the Nazis, which is cited below:

Never give in. Never give in. Never, never, never, never–in nothing, great or small, large, or petty–never give in, except to convictions of honor and good sense. Never yield to force. Never yield to the apparently overwhelming might of the enemy.

I find it a  good reminder that in life,  business, and in your fitness, you must have a “never give in” mindset to succeed.

Much love & respect and let’s continue to pray for peace.

Monday Mindset – A Warrior in a Garden 🤺 150 150 Bryce Henson

Monday Mindset – A Warrior in a Garden 🤺

Happy Mindset Monday!

I had a different message lined up today. But with attacks by Russia against Ukraine taking the main stage on the globe, I wanted to share some ideally inspirational thoughts through the tragedy. 🇷🇺🇺🇦

I would imagine just like me, you have a hard time watching this play out especially as it pertains to possible world implications…😢

Violence is always horrible and especially with unprovoked attacks on innocent lives. ⚔️

And while I do strongly believe peace should always be the focus, unfortunately, we can live in a violent world.

The reality is that sometimes people or things will come intentionally to harm you, unprovoked.

That’s a tough truth that is riddled throughout human history. 💯

This top of mind, I heard this analogy many years ago, and really that really resonated so wanted to share:

“You would much rather be a warrior in a garden, than a gardener in a war.”

What this means to me is that you should have peace as your default and desired mantra.  However, you should prepare yourself like a warrior in case violence comes knocking at your door, just like we are seeing in Ukraine.

In other words, possess a “peace through strength mindset.

The secret? 🤫

Preparation. ✅

Preparation is everything just like most things in your life, including your health & fitness.

Unfortunately, though, most people take the “wait and see approach”, then when sickness hits, they are unprepared and not strong enough to thrive, let alone survive.

We saw this with COVID as the most severely impacted people, aside from the elderly, were the obese.

Sadly, they were unprepared when a war (virus) attacked unprovoked.

As time passes and emotions fade, we will undoubtedly reflect and learn about these experiences with much greater clarity.

But my message today is to train yourself to be a proverbial warrior.

Get and stay fit. Workout at least 3 times a week. Train hard. Hydrate. Eat foods that will nourish you. Prepare your body, mind, and soul for the battlefield of life as your life depended on it.

Truth be told, it doe

If you are reading this message, I trust you are not the type of person who is proactively looking for trouble

However, when sickness, a virus, another pandemic, or heaven forbid an outside attack on our country comes to your door unprovoked, you better be ready.

After all..

“You would much rather be a warrior in a garden, than a gardener in a war.”

Much love & respect and let’s pray for peace. 🙏

Monday Mindset – People are hard to hate close up.. 150 150 Bryce Henson

Monday Mindset – People are hard to hate close up..

Happy Mindset Monday!

Last week I was interviewing my friend Drew Manning on a podcast who is a world renown-celebrity trainer and an overall great person. 🎙️

During the conversation, he told me of a story where he criticized someone in his early days just upon entering the fitness industry.

Although at the time, he admittedly didn’t know them well due to a perceived belief that he thought was true.

But a few years later he was able to get know to the person at a much closer level, and as it turns out his perception was completely wrong. ❌

But it wasn’t until he read best-selling author Brené Brown’s work below that included this quote that gave him the true learning lesson. 👇

“People are hard to hate close up. Move in. Speak truth to bullsh**. Be civil. Hold hands. With strangers. Strong back. Soft front. Wild heart.” – Brené Brown, Braving the Wilderness.

Upon reading these words “people are hard to hate close up”, he was immediately reminded of this experience which stopped him dead in his tracks.

As he realized he criticized without understanding the big picture. 🤔

Hearing this story, was a light bulb moment for me too. 💡

We humans are very quick to jump to conclusions and make assumptions on very little data. Especially when it comes to people we don’t know well and/or “something we heard through the grapevine.”

I know I’ve been guilty of this, and my guess is you have been too… 👊

So, this lesson and quote is a good reminder to take a step back, get curious, and gain some perspective.

People are hard to hate up close because most people are genuinely good. Many times, it’s our false perceptions or far-out perspective that alters our view.

So, my message for you today is that you can apply with your family, friends, colleagues, coworkers…

Be curious. Don’t be quick to jump to conclusions. There’s usually more to the story than meets the eye.

Rather learn, build a closer relationship and seek to understand. Many times, you will be surprised by the goodness of humanity and the false beliefs you once had. 💯

That will help you in your relationships, perspective, and life.

Much love & respect.

Let’s make it a great week!

Monday Mindset – Why Do You Train? 💪 150 150 Bryce Henson

Monday Mindset – Why Do You Train? 💪

This past week was incredible as we had dozens of locations from across North America come to Fit Body HQ in Chino Hills, CA for our Mastermind and Elite trainings which we host 3x per year.

Many of these owners, their leaders, and coaches have been in our organization for years and have been to multiple events like this before

So then why do we train again❓

Because it’s needed! 💯

As humans, we constantly need inspiration, connectivity, and continuous education to improve.

And this is like your health and fitness.

Yes, it’s very valuable you got in some hard full-body training sessions last week. You improved, you got leaner, stronger, and better!

But guess what? 😮

You still need to train your body and mind again this week.

This part continues if you want to lead a full and happy life.

 And the best part?

Our team and brand just got better for you! 🙌

So, get ready for some updates and enhancements to our fitness program in the coming weeks!

Love and respect,

-Coach Bryce

Monday Mindset – The power of teamwork and training 150 150 Bryce Henson

Monday Mindset – The power of teamwork and training

I just read the book “5 dysfunctions of a team” by leadership experience Robert Lencioni.

So, I wanted to share this quote which was very profound to me.. 👇

“If you can get all the people in any organization to be rowing in the same direction.. You can dominate any industry, any market, any competition, at any time. This is the power of teamwork!” – Robert Lencioni

Why was it so profound? 🤔

About 5 years ago, while I was doing many things right..

After a very tough and eye-opening experience, I realized very clearly that I needed to become a much better leader for you and my team, so began my intentional pursuit.

In fact, I realize realized 2 truths:

  1. I was an ineffective leader and in some ways did not always lead by example (Morale Authority). 😮
  2. We, humans, are a very tribal species and evolved to become the Apex predators on the planet, not only because of our intelligence but by our ability to work together. And teamwork and leadership are a requirement in this pursuit..

Maybe a simple concept, but big ah-hah for me at the time. 😱

So, when I deeply saw the value and the need, I began to devote myself to bettering my leadership skills for the betterment of you and our team.

That’s when my leadership journey truly began and why I am so passionate to help guide you too. 💯

This is also why we will be closing operations this Saturday, Feb 5, to lead a Fit Body brand-wide team training for our coaches and to provide more support and training to our team. 🙌

This way, we can pour more coaching, accountability, and results at a higher level to benefit you!!

Let’s make it an INCREDIBLE WEEK!

Monday Mindset – The Rope or the Door? 150 150 Bryce Henson

Monday Mindset – The Rope or the Door?

I received this message/story last week from my business partner and founder of Fit Body Bedros Keuilian. It really resonated so wanted to share with you as I know you will get value..

A criminal was caught committing a crime and was brought before the king for sentencing.

The king told him to choose between two punishments:

  1. Hanging by rope OR
  2. Taking whatever was behind an ominous, mysterious ironclad door

Without hesitation, the criminal chose the rope.

The king, not shocked, mumbled “everybody chooses the rope” while he ordered to have a noose put around the criminal’s neck.

Seeing the king’s reaction, the criminal asked:

“So… out of curiosity, what’s behind the door?”

The king paused then said:

“Freedom — but everybody is so fearful of the unknown that they immediately choose the rope.”

HOW TRUE!

Fear of the unknown is self-imprisonment.

So many people are afraid of failing or having their ego or reputation hurt that they don’t play big enough to really win in life.

Most do enough to just get buy leaving so much more on the table.

The good news is, like many emotions, I do believe fear has its place…

AS A TOOL.

You just need a strategy to face it, so it doesn’t completely overwhelm you.

If it does, you’re paralyzed…

And you’ll most certainly “choose the rope”.

When I’m facing the fear of a limiting belief, big lift, or business risk, here’s how I prevent the overwhelm:

I breathe to create space between me and my fear.

Just a sliver of space — a moment of detachment — and, in that space..

I bring awareness to the gift (yes, I said gift) that this fear is presenting to me, such as:

  • Increased brainpower to focus.
  • Increased motivation to move.
  • Increased opportunity to grow.

And then comes the hard part:

I barrel towards the fear.

For you, it could be working out, tracking your food, public speaking, leadership, learning a new skill, starting a difficult conversation you’ve been putting off, ending a relationship —

Whatever it is, remember that fear doesn’t have to confine you…

It can be the thing that frees you and brings even more fulfillment to your life.

Love and respect,

-Coach Bryce
